Matt is an award-winning composer and audio engineer having worked in places across the United States and Europe including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, the Edinburgh Science Festival as well as Off-Broadway in New York, and other shows in Philadelphia, Romania, and Spain. Matt has also written music for film, with music appearing in the Glasgow 24 hour festival (winning best original music), Edinburgh Film Festival Short Film Competition, and the New Hope film festival (where the film won Viewer’s Choice award). He has won the Emre Araci composition prize and has held the position of composer in residence with orchestras in New York and Philadelphia.

As an experienced audio engineer he has worked on a wide variety of projects in the past 6 years doing mixing, mastering, and sound design for film, live performance, album recording, and podcasts.

Matt received his Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh where he taught as an adjunct professor teaching various music courses. Previously, he studied at New York University Steinhardt where he tutored undergraduate music theory. He has been involved with numerous music outreach projects (including winning a Scottish New Music award for Education Project of the Year).

He plays piano, french horn, guitar, and electric bass. In addition to his musical abilities he has composed 2 ballets, a violin concerto, and 2 symphonies, among many smaller chamber works.
